INTERREG IIIC - TranSUrban Operation is organizing its Final Conference on the 8th - 9th November 2007 in Volos, Greece and it is open for other INTERREG IIIC Projects and other relevant Initiatives to participate in. The theme of the Conference is:
"Quality Public Transport Systems in Small and Medium size Cities: Socio - Economic Development and Urban Regeneration Impacts, Funding and Implementation Advances".
During the Conference the results of TranSUrban Operation will be presented for the five case cities of Volos/Greece, Cambridgeshire/United Kingdom, Livorno/Italy, Valdemoro/Spain and Linz/Austria. In addition, there will be sessions on funding issues, technology of transit systems, socio - economic and urban regeneration impacts.
The TranSUrban partnership welcomes Papers from other European cities and companies that supply and operate quality and advanced Public Transport systems, in order to present and exchange their experience of matters such as planning, development, technology, implementation and operation of Quality Public Transport systems in Small and Medium size Cities.
The focus of the papers should be on:
- Small and Medium size Cities (up to 250000 population)
- Cities which plan, implement or operate Quality Public Transport Systems (LRT/Tramways, Guided Bus, Bus Rapid Transit)
- Impacts on Socio-Economic local Development and Urban Regeneration
- Methods of financing and operation (e.g. PPP's, PFI, DBFO, etc.)
- Overcoming barriers to implementation, institutional and citizen participation issues
Abstracts of between 500 and 1000 words should be submitted until 1 October 2007 by e-mail to:
